I Got the PERFECT apron!!!

I was so excited to see the package on Saturday. I had just sat through FOUR baseball games that my son was in. It had been a long, hot day and when I got home there it sat on the porch... THE PACKAGE....It was well worth the wait. It was the PERFECT apron for me. I had made this pattern once before using a Dick and Jane fabric, but the way my partner put the fabrics together changed the entire look. What I like best is it is Red, White and Blue fabric that can be worn for the 4th of July or any other time of the year. You can bet that on Friday, I will be wearing my new WONDERFUL apron to celebrate this great country that we live in! Thank you Heather you Blessed me with you wonderful creativity! I LOVE it!!!!

A Bad Case of the Procrastinations

Here is my Independence Apron...finally on it's way to it's new home. I was suffering from a bad case of the procrastinations (one of my less attractive personality traits;)...)

So a BIG apology to my partner! I am so sorry to have kept you waiting!

A BIG Thank You To DonnaN!!

I am playing catch up with my thank yous...

I received my flirty swap package from Donna N last week. It is so cute! I actually saw this one on the flirty blog and had had a feeling it would be mine!

Thanks so much Donna! It is great and I think you did a superb job putting it together! Don't sweat the french seam...I think it is awesome:)

Oh and she also made me some coasters to match...forgot to take a picture though (big shocker)...I will get to it and update my post later.

Thanks to Shawnee for another great installment of the Flirty Apron Swap.

(My 4 year old took the pic for me... I think she is getting pretty handy with the camera)

Tammie sent this Absolutely Fabulous package!

Horray for me! I received my lovely apron and extra-special gifts from Tammie. The apron is adorable - so professionally done and perfect. I'm spoiled.

I love the stars - and I love navy/red combo. The package also included cocktail decorations - firework palm trees. She must know how much I love cocktails and love to accessorize them.

I also received napkins and flag plates. Most especially was her card - she sewed some of the apron material to the paper.

She is one crafty gal, let me tell you - her site: http://craftytammie.blogspot.com is amazing. She does so many different kinds of crafts and ALL her aprons are gorgeous. I wished she lived closer so I could see more of her creations.

Cheers, Tammie and cheers to Shawnee, too, for making me a very happy gal this summer!

I heard the mail man honk....

I live in the country. When the mail man has a package that's too big for the mail box, he comes driving up the lane, dust a' flying and honking! I knew when I heard that honk today it would be my new apron. It was! Sandi I just love my apron! I keep looking at it, and enjoying it. I won't be able to wait until the 4th of July to use it. Mine will be worn tonight, even if we only have PB&J sandwiches! Thanks again Sandi, it will be worn with pride!
Julie Robertson

It came! It came!

My apron arrived the the mail today. Funny thing is that I predicted that it would be mine! Here is where I posted a comment (5th one down) on how this apron is coming to my house, and IT DID! Stacey from Two Cold Feet, I don't know why you wish you could have made this over again, it is PERFECT! The ribbon, garland and red/white/blue candy sprinkles are going on some yummy cupcakes! Thanks again!!!!!!!!!

Here is Ava modeling the apron for me. (I like her shape better than mine!)

A Big Thank You & Hug for Dalia!

My Apron is Sooo Darling! I really want to Share a Picture with everyone but Hubby has my Camera:(
My Apron is so Fun & Flirty! I can't wait to wear it on the
4th:D
Thank you so Very Much!

Thank you Tracey W

My camera's gone to Oregon so I can't post a photo, but if you look below at Tracey's photo of the flirty apron with the red, white and blue ruffles--well, it's mine now! Really cute and fun and it has sparkles on it as well. Thank you Tracey W. As a first time swapper, I have to say this is great fun.

Love in a Patriotic Box

I was having a tough day Friday and when I checked the mail, there was this lovely patriotic box waiting for me. Perfect timing! Laura, the apron is gorgeous and fits perfectly! And all the goodies and sparkles. How can one be sad when amongst glitter and confetti, not to mention the perfect apron. The 4th is a huge holiday for my husbands family. We all spend a week together at a lake in NH so I will have plenty of time to show off my new goodies. Plus she sent address labels, my first since I got married and acquired a new name! I can't thank you enough Laura, the apron will always hold a special place in my heart.

If my eyes look a bit funny, it is the red eye thing, sometimes it gives me a black eye. And I had a great photo of all the loot then realized the labels had my address on them, oops! So I cropped them out. I know I have said it several times, but Thanks a Million Shawnee and everyone for making my first apron swap so special!

Got it?

Be sure to let me (and your partner!) know when you receive your package. I've started a new list on the sidebar of who is still waiting from what I've been able to figure out from your emails, posts here and doing a little blog stalking. Thanks!!

MY APRON IS LOVELY!

Look at the lovely apron Sharon sent me! It's such a unique pattern and look at the polka-dot rick-rack! I can't wait to wear it at our family's 4th of July weekend swim/potluck. She sent really great extras, too. I'm having to fight the grandkids for the tattoos! Thank you Sharon for such a great surprise package....

Aprons, to and from...

First off, I wanted to thank Adrienne for the most flirtastic apron imaginable! It is adorable! Also thanks for the earth-friendly tablecloth/picnic blanket. So here is me in my new apron:

Next, I wanted to post some pictures of the apron that I sent to my partner. (Sorry for the delay--computer issues!) The weekend before I signed up for the swap, I found a one yard piece of vintage-y blue fabric with graduated stars in circles. Perfect! I found it hard to find a coordinating fabric. I wanted something with red pinstripes, but all the whites of those fabrics were just too bright. Eventually, I settled on some red and white gingham that was already in my fabric stash. I used a pattern made from a vintage apron I found at an antique street faire.
So here's the front:

And here's the back:
I hope she likes it!! Happy 4th!

Adrianne, I think I love you!

Just a quick note to let Adrianne know that I LOVE my apron! It came in the mail just as I was leaving for my parents' house. I ripped open the package and nearly cried (good tears!) It is one of the most beautiful aprons I've seen, and I can't even begin to tell you how perfect it is for me. I had my mom model it for me (then had to wrestle it away from her, as she loves it as much as I do!), so I'll post pics of everthing when I get home later today or tonight.

Thank you so much!

Thanks to Kathie

I recieved this lovely apron today and quess what.? I was preparing at the time for a cookout /get together with some of our church folk, I immediatly donned the apron, took time out for Daniel to snap some Pics. Kathie also sent along, napkins and plates, toothpick canape sticks, flowers all red, white and blue. and she sent a Betty Crocker cookbook , Love it! It looks vintage

Heat Up The Grill

I am ready for a BBQ. Thanks so much to Skye for the awesome reversible apron. I can't wait to use it. You can tell that even my cat loves it!!!! I also got a great big kitchen towel made to match my apron. I have to share this with you all, and anyone who knows my husband (or has a husband like I do) will not find this shocking. I put the apron on and said "What do you think?". His response was, "I like the top" with his dimples out. Boys! What can you do with them? Their minds are always in the gutter. Guess I should be happy my husband loves me and my new apron so much. Thanks Skye for doing a fantastic job. We usually go to Sarah's for the 4th (she is on here, check out her blog) and we can't make it this year and I am SOOOOOOO bummed and depressed. This apron will help me get through the 4th this year while I am missing all of my friends! Thanks Skye! Off to post about it on my blog!

Thank you, Kristin !!!!!!

I received my package from Kristin on Monday, and I was just blown away by the contents: this beautiful, gorgeous, so cute, pretty, frilly little apron, sweet handmade stationery and a note from Kristin, all tucked inside a matching bag. What a talented lady she is! She's even got her own shop, which is full of more lovely aprons and other handmade gifts. Thank you so much, Kristin, I LOVE them!!!

Thank you, Sherry!

I had to add this picture of my 4yr old son trying to show me how to pose...and making fun of me at the same time:D

Thank you so much, Sherry, for the wonderful package! I felt like a little kid on Christmas morning when the mail arrived!!!!!
Sherry sent an adorable and wonderfully made apron along with a matching straw hat, a matching straw purse, a kitchen towel, a pack of napkins and plates, and a wonderful letter. Her letter sounded just like my family in the summer time. She posted a couple of great pictures of everything here.
It's funny because I have really been wanting to try this style of apron out. So, I wore it all day, and I LOVE it! I can't wait to try to make one on my own!!!
Thanks!
Justine

FREE-ish ...

I hope that it's alright posting this here, but ...

I have a bunch of fabric up for grabs on my blog http://she-knits-too.blogspot.com/, you pay the shipping & if you want to add a little extra for the sender, that's great too ...

Destination????

My apron is finished and will be sent to it's destination tomorrow. Usually, I'm very good about getting things done with plenty of time leftover, but I think I may have signed up for a few too many swaps this month!

It didn't come out very flirty, my mind seemed to focus on patriotic. When I finished and looked at it, I thought, "what happened to the flirty part?" Oh wells, these things happpen! I hope my partner will like and the small goodies I included.

The Package is in the Mail!

I put the package for my partner in the mail today. I hope she enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it for her. :) This was a new pattern for me, and I thought it turned out pretty cute.

Finished!

I finished my flirty apron this morning. It'll go in the mail on Monday. I do hope she likes it! My husband didn't want me to send it off!

Coming to an End

Hi All --

Just a quick reminder that the Celebrating Independence round of the Flirty Apron Swap ends this weekend! I chose this special weekend for several personal reasons:
  • For this swap, it's a fun weekend because today (Saturday, June 14) is Flag Day. Be sure to fly your colors with pride today!!

  • Tomorrow is Father's Day! I hope you all cook up a special treat for someone on Father's Day - your dad, grandpa, hubby, a neighbor - and wear a flirty apron while doing it!

  • It's my niece Tessi's birthday tomorrow, too. She'll be 6 and lives in AZ.

  • It's a remembrance, too; my mother passed away 11 years ago tomorrow, and it was Father's Day that year too. So, I'm trying to spread a little joy around in honor of my mother, Priscilla Clara Houghtling Christensen (1923 - 1997). She didn't wear a lot of aprons but she is the one that taught me the joy of surprises, creativity and giving to others!! Hey all, hug your momma for me next time you see her!

So, if you're going to be late with your apron (mailing after Monday), please let me and your partner know. As an added incentive to SEW, SEW, SEW this weekend, don't forget that everyone who mails on time is entered into a drawing for a Sew Liberated pattern!!

Enjoy a glorious and creative weekend!!
Shawnee

PS - If you didn't get to join us this time, be sure to keep checking back for the next round!

The Final Countdown!!!

I just made it - whew!! I am getting this in the mail before I have to go to work tomorrow. I hope you like it partner! It was so much fun to make. I like the ruffles. I may have to make one for myself!!!

Hoorah

Here she is. The waist band still needs stitched down in the back, but she should be ready to go tomorrow. I have really become fond of her, yes, it's a her. I can only hope my partner likes her half as much as me! Thanks everyone, especially Shawnee, for making this swap such a good time!

Thank You Justine!

On our way out of the house--I thought to check the mail and found a package from Justine. I just had to go back in and say thank you before heading out to the lake for the weekend. I promise to post pictures on my return. The apron is exactly what I was hoping for and so well made! I especially love that I can tie it in front and it fits like a dream. Justine also included red and blue napkins and recipes for Apple Crumb pie and crust (how she knew I needed a pie crust recipe, I don't know!). Her hand written note was also a treat--thank you for sharing! Okay, off to the lake now. I will post pictures soon. Thank You Justine!!!

For now, Justine posted a picture on her blog

A new swap.........

Hi everyone.

I hope Shawnee doesn't mind that I'm doing this but So many of us love (are addicted) to these swaps...

I ran across a "Halloween in July' apron swap but the sign up is only a week or 2 long.

Here is the info.

And... It's Off!

I mailed my apron, some stationary, and a recipe on the very day I received my own box of goodies.

I'll be thanking my apron fairy properly on my blog, but I'd like to take this bit of space to say THANK YOU. The apron is so incredibly lovely and well-made. I know it's an item I will treasure.

The apron I sent my swap partner is below. I hope she likes it.

I didn't use a pattern, but did model it off of an apron I saw in a window. I'm a bit worried about that ruffle getting there unsquished. Anyhow, there's ribbon and piping galore on this thing, and it was a great deal of fun to make.

Unfortunately, my sewing machine was suffering post cross country treck, and as a result some of the seams are a wee bit sad. But the apron turned out well, overall, and the machine is now at the doctor, so all is well.

Thanks, Shawnee. This was a blast.

Grand Old Flag!!!!

Guess who got SueAnn's GORGEOUS flag apron? ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She also sent me some great flip=flops that my daughter snagged......and some cute cheese spreaders and a dish bottle apron....but I'm going to use it for HOT SAUCE BABY!

This apron ROCKS. I love the extra long ties so I can tie a bow!

Thank you soooooo much Sue Ann!!!!!!!!!!

This is my lame attempt at POSING...........oh my gosh.....my lily white legs are soooooo scary!!!

Thank you SO MUCH Sue Ann!!!!!!

Can't wait till she gets the apron....Mailed it today!

I sent my apron today. I couln't stop at just making the apron... She will have all the right accessories to go with her flirty new apron. What girl wouldn't want a matching bag and hat to to go with the outfit. I think the BBQ will be sizzling when she wears this cute number!

Done and Done

And soon to be off in the mail along with a few more goodies.
