Finally! Have been so busy that I couldn't seem to find the time to look for fabric for the table runner. But... I was done a little early at school, and zipped over to town for some shopping at our one and only fabric store (besides Wal Mart) This is what I came up with. Might be able to get a little bit done tonight, but planning for sure to work on it tomorrow and Wed. This pattern looks like it should go together easily enough. Now to think about the tuck ins. I picked up a couple other cute, fun patterns that I also can't wait to try. Maybe I'll make one of them for my swap partner also. Love some of these little buttons that they also had.

A little peek...
Here's a peek at the fabrics that I chose for my partner's apron:
They are her favourite colours, so I hope she really likes the apron! I have finished everything & just need to tuck everything into the mail, which is a great relief, since my first baby is due ANY day now! A little part of me wondered if I should sit this swap out, but it was too hard to resist the Aloha theme & it turned out to be really nice to have something to sew that would be going to one of you lovely ladies. Visit My Tiny Universe to see a pic of the finished apron!

So I am starting over!
I had some fabric, liked it - didn't "love" it. I surveyed a few of my peeps on Facebook about it and we all kinda agreed, the accent fabric (purple dots) just wasn't doing it. The other options was just sooo dang bright!

Then Karen said I should visit M&L Fabrics. That has been my undoing ladies! Floor to Ceiling (almost anyway) of fabric - at prices from $1.00/yard on up. After an hour of just being dumb struck, I did end up at the cutting table because everyone needs 5 yards of orange gingham. Really!

Long story short - I have fabric for my partners apron its seersucker too!. Hopefully, it will turn out adorable and springy and happy and cheerful and all those good spring fling adjectives that escape me this early in the morning. Must need another cup o' joe.

Snowflakes and Swirlies
Got my fabric picked out today, there were so many with snowflakes, but I loved this! The swirly blue is an accent.
That’s it. That’s all I’m sayin’ for now…stay tuned

LOVE & a sneak peak
UPDATED: I have trouble following Jen Sue's amazingly brave and heartfelt post as well as Jen O's equally touching comment. I have never experienced loss like that. I can't say I relate or "I know how you feel." But I have experienced sadness in my life. I have had my heart broken not by boys but by so called friends. It has made me weary of people. But with the help of true friends and family I'm working on it and starting to come back out of my shell.
You never know what your heart can take until you've pushed it to it's limits. Losing a child must be like pushing the heart to its breaking point. And the only thing keeping a heart from cracking in two is Love.
So here it is - LOVE
L - Lollypops, Light-up ornaments, Lily, anything Little, Lights
O - Off white, Opener, Origami, Oven mitt (with tutorial!)
V - Votive, Vanilla scones, homemade Vanilla extract, Vintage ornament
E - Evergreen, Eclairs, Estrellas (stars ;0), Earrings, Envelope Pillow cover! (with tutorial)
(P.s. these are harder to come up with than you think, hence a few repeats on O)
PHEW!
And now for my sneak peak...
Look familiar? Hehe Joann's has some really adorable fabric right now. In the background there's a fabric you can't totally see, that's the secret fabric. The fabric that says "Hey, I listened/read and bought you something you'll really like!" Don't strain yourself though. It's still a surprise!
Love,
Swap sister

Modern and Vintage?
After finding my green vintage apron, I decided to compliment it with some pink/brown fabric. The apron I've designed is a more modern 50's apron. Full bib, but somewhat adjustable to flatter a figure. I've sewn it up already, and what's even more, I didn't do any part of it from a pattern. I have found when I sew, if I work it the way that feels right, it comes out much better. I'm not regulated to whatever someone else has written. I guess it's just one of those things. : )
So, a glimpse at the fabric before it was sewn. . .

My fabric choices
I am making a 50s style apron inspired by the prom dress in the movie. You know the peach one she wears in the 50s prom. I am actually using the same pattern as Karen so it will be fun when I put up my pics to see how similar/different the two aprons end up being. I have one little alteration I might try to do. We'll see!!!! Now for tuck-ins! Yikes!!!
