Modern and Vintage?

After finding my green vintage apron, I decided to compliment it with some pink/brown fabric. The apron I've designed is a more modern 50's apron. Full bib, but somewhat adjustable to flatter a figure. I've sewn it up already, and what's even more, I didn't do any part of it from a pattern. I have found when I sew, if I work it the way that feels right, it comes out much better. I'm not regulated to whatever someone else has written. I guess it's just one of those things. : )

So, a glimpse at the fabric before it was sewn. . .

Looky!

Looky what I received. This precious "Twirl Girl" Apron. It is so cute and the fabrics are wonderful. I also received the Farm Chicks cookbook. I've been wanting this cookbook, but just hadn't bought it yet.

THANK YOU HEATHER!!! This was a fun swap and I can't wait to see what Shawnee has in store for us next.

Thank you Micki!

My polka dot pretties apron arrived today. Micki made it reversible. I just love aprons that are reversible. Reversible aprons are like a two for one, so what's not to love?!!

She also sent these great goodies. Thank you Micki for your thoughtfulness and the great package! I posted about my new goodies here.

Apron is on its way!

My apron shipped out this afternoon and I hope my partner will forgive me for being a little late.
I had so much fun making this apron. I fell in love with the fabric the moment I saw it and knew it would be perfect. I only wish that I would have thought and picked up some extra to make myself one.
The picture below is my daughter modeling. The apron is reversible. I just hope my partner likes it.

Dotted Turtles!

I had this very fuzzy teaser at the beginning of the swap. Now that my partner got it I can share with you.

Becca LOVES sea turtles and I just happened to have some cute fabric in my stash. The shells had polka dots on them so I knew I had to use it. I added additional dots and cute trim to complete it.

a crocheted turtle pincushion...

and rest of her goodies...

Done!!!

Here it is in all it's dottiness. Next time, I swear I will use a pattern. Designing as you go is great but it does ramp up the challenge that is for sure.
I am thrilled with how this turned out! It is hard to part with it.

I had a hard time getting a decent teaser photo this time out.

The pattern has a close repeat and the theme is so obvious my secret partner would know in a SECOND.

NEW Swappers: mail to Shawnee before April 24

All Others Mail After: April 24

But Mail Before: May 1

Create a handmade "Polka Dot Pretties" apron, and include a marvelous cookbook in your package – new, thrifted, re-gifted … as long as the cookbook looks and feels brand new, it’s a good one. Make your package pretty … wrap it in tissue, tie it up with a polka-dotted bow, and include a personal little note card please

It seems like everywhere I look, all I see are adorable polka-dotted goodies.  I personally just bought myself a black and white polka dotted mug for tea at work.  I decorated snack tables at my church’s womens retreat and all my accessories were “dotty” this past weekend.  I even found an adorable black and white polka dot top on sale that I adore!

So, in this swap, participants will create a handmade “Polka Dot Pretties” apron.  You do NOT have to make the whole thing from polka-dots!  That’s TOO predictable.  If you prefer, use the dots for accents, polka-dot ribbon ties, maybe the pockets … perhaps you’ll find some rick-rack like I’ve used, that was dotted!  Do what makes you smile.  For your cookbook, please take the time to find one that you’d like to receive, not just any old cookbook, ‘k?   You gotta sign up by April Fool’s Day and send before May Day.

As always, if you have anything you'd like to donate for a giveaway, just let me know, and I'm happy to highlight your shop or blog in exchange.

Normal rules apply (aka you and I will be email buddies)
Email me four times:
#1 - within 48 hours of assignment to keep playing
#2 -when you send your package WITH TRACKING NUMBER
#3 -when you receive your package
#4 -cc me on your thank you email (can combine with #3)

AFTER YOU REGISTER, copy a badge to your blog then come back here and comment so we can see who's IN!!

To help me get the word out about my latest swap, the editors of Apron-ology Magazine are giving away ONE COPY of their newest Apron-ology Magazine just for spreading the word!   I LOVE this publication and it might be yours IF you blog/tweet/post on Facebook about this newest swap.  Put the link to your post in the comment section to be entered, separate comments for separate posts.  MODIFIED:  If you don't use social networking but email your friends about the swap, I'll count that as an entry, too.  Just put it in the comments!
