So, I've recovered finally and am kicking around a new swap. What would you be interested in swapping??
I'm loving this crocheted edging tutorial over at You Go Girl and would love to incorporate this somehow
How do you feel about an embellished tea towel swap?
or swapping a Summer Tote (tutorial HERE). It's not really a household item but fun and functional.
Or, what about a delightful Ruffled Apron swap using this web-classic tutorial - especially if the bottom layer has a crocheted edging!!
Comment below on your vote. And leave suggestions on any parameters I can put into play that might help me with my last problem of swappers who don't follow through or are VERY late .... Maybe this first one needs to be a Sew Along with deadlines rather than a Swap?
Hugs!
Shawnee
I LOVE it all! But especially love the swap :)..Glad you are feeling better about it.
ReplyDeleteI don't crochet so I won't even ask to be in this one, but I would suggest everyone sends a paypal deposit of $20 that is refunded when the swap is sent on their end. It may help with the problems, putting money where their mouth is.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the embelished tea towel swap and also the ruffled apron tutorial. I feel that you should not be held responsible when swappers do not follow through and you should not beat yourself up about it. The swapper that does not follow through should be dropped from any further swaps and it is always good to have some who would be able to follow throught if there is a bad swapper. I for one would like to volunteer to follow thru if you have need of someone. I would love to take part in this one.
ReplyDeleteI can't crochet so if it can be done without crochet. I'd love to!
ReplyDeleteoops forgot to enter my name above
ReplyDeleteHey girl!!! I think I'm up for a swap! Like some of the others, I don't crochet (yet) and would be interested in any of your other ideas! Hugs, Mindy
ReplyDeleteSo excited you're back Shawnee:-)
ReplyDeleteI like all of the ideas, but my favorites are the embellished tea towel or the summer tote. I'm in for whichever swap wins the vote though.
Perhaps for this next swap, open it only to returning swappers with a dependable history.
I agree that you shouldn't shoulder the responsibility of those who flake .... have a few angels lined up, if possible, but I think we'll all agree that when we sign up for a swap, we know that there's a small chance of your partner flaking - it's just part of it, as ugly as that is.
I really am looking forward to joining one of your swaps and I like all of the ideas you put forth. I crochet, but the edgings would be a new thing for me. From the onset of a swap, how long does a person have to fulfill it? I have a month-long trip to be with some of my kids, so am not sure how I would do on this one.
ReplyDeleteI also kind of like the idea that Sew Ducky suggested (tho' it would take extra work for someone), but for the recipient that ends up getting left out, she would get the $20. :) Just a thought.
((Awww, Kerry, that would leave me out of an opportunity to join this fun group!))
I don't crochet. But I would love to do a summer tote
ReplyDeleteSusan@ Shabby And Frills
I don't crochet but would love to join in a swap. I really like both the tote bag and ruffled apron ideas.
ReplyDeleteI'm a crocheter so I'm up for anything, though I haven't done edgings in years. I also like the tote, having recently finished a custom messenger bag for my daughter's computer that was lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteOf course, anything aprony is fine, too!
I'm a crocheter, however, I think that would seriously limit the number of swappers who could participate. On that note, I love bags so the summer tote sounds promising. Glad to see you back in swap mama mode.
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting for you to host another swap so I'm definitely in! I like all of the ideas. The tea towels or the tote bag sound like fun for the new swap. I think you should only let returning swappers with a good record participate and maybe for the people new to your swaps they would need to put up a deposit.
ReplyDeleteHey Shawnee,
ReplyDeleteI'm in for swapping, but I am not a crocheter!! I will put in my best foot, and give it a try!! Hugs to you Shawnee!!! Oh, my daughter is in the hospital having baby #3. This one will be her first "GIRL". Yeah!!!
Just checked in today..& so Happy you're planning another swap!
ReplyDeleteI Love all your ideas...My favorites are

ReplyDeleteI love these ideas, I crochet a little, so I look forward to improving my skills, I also purschase some antique crochet lace that I would love to work with its beauiful! So I am in
ReplyDeleteI want to swap but don't crochet. I do knit so either tote bag or ruffled apron would be fun.
