FAS8 - Martini Madness Swap Registration OPEN

(click on an image to register)
Registration Deadline: January 11

Partners Sent: January 13

NEW Swappers: mail to Shawnee before January 31

All Others Mail After: January 31

But Mail Before: February 8
Okay ladies, I’m SO excited about this new swap. But, I have a True Confession to make – I’ve never drank a martini in my life! I actually don’t like alcohol very much, just an occasional wine cooler. But, I LOVE the cute martini glasses!! I see them everywhere and I want to own dozens of them! And, the Flirty Apron Swap blog is all about the cute! So, I hope you’ll join in and sip “mocktails” if the hard stuff isn’t your thang. Since I’m new to this martini-thing, I really appreciate if you’d also include your favorite cocktail or “mocktail” recipe when you register. I need to branch out!

In this swap, participants will create a handmade “Martini Madness” apron. I strongly suggest a cocktail apron, wispy and cute, perfect for entertaining. However, you are allowed to request something more practical, even though it is the sewer’s choice. You will include one CUTE martini glass. DO NOT feel like you have to spend lots of money on this – I see martini glasses all the time at Goodwill or other resale shops, craigslist, and Crate and Barrel sells the cutest ones for under $10. Just get creative.

The martini glasses and aprons must be sent by February 8 (or earlier, if you're new to the Flirty Apron Swap) and remember to wrap them carefully – I would hate for someone to spend time and money to buy or create a beautiful glass only for it to show up in pieces!

If you have anything you'd like to donate for a giveaway, just let me know and I'm happy to highlight your shop or blog in exchange.

Normal rules apply (aka you and I will be email buddies)
Email me four times:
#1 - within 48 hours of assignment to keep playing
#2 -when you send your package WITH TRACKING NUMBER
#3 -when you receive your package
#4 -cc me on your thank you email (can combine with #3)

Here's a button that you can put on your blog to help spread the word. the more people involved in the swap, the more fun it will be!

you gotta hop out of your reader to get the code!

so get out there spread the word and let's have some fun!!

AFTER YOU REGISTER, come back here and comment so we can see who's IN!!

Yee Haw!

What fun this Swap has been and here's a photo of the goodies that arrived from Betty aka Fudgie! I love the apron with the sassy boots and hats fabric ~ just perfect for New Mexico! I just happen to be finishing up a set of placemats and napkins from the same fabric ~ how kool is that!

Also enclosed was some wonderful yardage of colorful fabric with a rooster theme ~ two coordinting pieces of more than a yard each. The colors and roosters go right along with the other chicks in my kitchen. Betty included some titanium needles ( 2 paks) and some oh so colorful thread to match the fabric...now i just need to get to stitching up something pretty. To set the mood for a relaxing sewing session, she also included a delightful scented candle.

The note Betty added made reference to my favorite Christmas carols...all in all a very fun package. Thank you so very much, Betty. Merry Christmas to All! edyB in New Mexico

My swap parcel arrived today...........oh, and it was SOOO lovely.

My partner Edy really spoilt me!!! The reversible apron she made me was just too cute, with the cutest reindeer fabric on one side and holly fabric on the other. I love it, and it will be put to very good use this coming week, as my baking hits high gear.

I also got some pretty napkins, a Santa and snowman ornament, some yummy mints, Santa post it notes and the most beautiful pop up book - I will treasure it and it will definately come out every Christmas.

Look What I Got in the Mail!

I was so excited to find my swap package on my doorstep. It was like Christmas, errr, well you know what I mean. I think my kids were just as excited as I was. I almost had to fight them to get to open up my presents! This is the lovely apron I received from Donna:

I love it! It is made out of decorator fabric, and it is so heavy duty! There was also some candy (which is already gone), some candle holders, and a glittery gold "Celebrate" sign in my package.

Now here is a picture of the apron that I sent out:

I hope my swap partner likes it!

WINNER of the White Christmas Apron

Well, Flirty Apron Swappers, you placed 200 entries to win Jan's beautiful White Christmas apron! That's a lot of comments and posting. I LOVED reading every one. I hope you've had a delicious swap this round. So, the lucky gal is
Sarah Chilton

Jan is mailing your prize right out.

I know the last of the packages are flying around the US right now, racing Santa to see who will arrive first. Be sure to pop me an email when yours arrives; I need to update my spreadsheet and this site again. So far, only one gal has dropped out so I hope everyone else is able to play.

I received my own beauty this weekend, from none other than Micki (stolen image since my camera cord is missing). How did she know that I love to do laundry?! My husband thought the fabric was a hoot, and I adore the design. She thoughtfully tucked in a "green" Christmas craft book because I LOVE to read AND craft. THANK YOU!!!

Love it!!

This is my beautiful apron!!

The applique is fabulous with the bright star and Mary and Joseph on their journey to Bethlehem.
And I love the pretty blue color. I also got a Christmas music CD, a Christmas mug, and a cute star cutout cappuccino topping set.
Thank you Kat, I love my package.. And thank you Shawnee for such a fun swap.

Lookee I got!

I was lucky enough to have Tara make me a GORGEOUS apron! It's reversible and made from repurposed fabric on one side and the candy cane fabric I've been drooling over on the other. I am so thrilled that she picked the EXACT fabric I've been trying to find an excuse to buy since I'm on fabric restriction.

She also sent some wonerful handmade soap. My kids kept sniffing all the items because the whole box smelled wonderful. There was also a cute little elf for my shelf, a diffuser and a candy dish!

I LOVED this package! awesome awesome

and my 11 yr old was all too happy to model for me. She was like "gimmeee that!" she loves aprons as much as I do!

They know that Saaanta's on his way

He's loaded this cute apron on his sleigh...

*sing with me*

And every flirty apron swappers gonna spy
to see when the new owner's gonna tryyyyyyyyyy (it on)

Wow...that's just as bad as my singing IRL

This past week or so has majorly SUCKED around here. We've had the sickies. Today I ran out of gas while at the store. Hubby had to leave work to get me, but by the time he got home to get the gas can a nice stranger arrived to my aid. So I guess it hasn't been that awful. Hubby is really mad tho! I mean who runs out of gas when you have a digital gas gauge?

Anyhoo...Sorry this picture isnt' the greatest. Batteries died on my camera and had to use the cell phone. I am trying to keep this somewhat of a surprise for my partner. I hope she's feelin' green :) I know she lives in a very green place. And having lived there myself, I felt awfully homesick making this for her and wishing I could stuff myself in the envelope and fly home.

*sigh*

Anyway, hope everyone is surviving wintry weather!

Simple And Sweet

I took the lead for fabric from my partners favorite carols. I liked the fabric so much I had a hard time embellishing so I decided to keep it simple.

If you look closely you can see the pocket - I tried to match the print.

This is the first time I've worked with shimmery thread ... it was so fun and added a little bit of sparkle.

This is the reverse of the apron - and if she chooses she can wear it as another apron!

Simple and sweet I say ~ I hope she thinks so too~

oops! already sent.......

I sent my apron last week and forgot to post!

Here is a photo of just the apron.....hope she likes it!

Heavy on the "Flirty"

My partner's favorite Christmas song is Frosty the Snowman. I took inspiration from the "Flirty" part of the swap and my own curiosity of Frosty's social life and created "Flirty Fostina the Snowgirl"! Because every hansdsome snowman needs a beautiful snowgirl by his side, don't you think? I just hope they don't go out on any hot dates!!

I hope my partner loves her hostess-like apron as much as I enjoyed creating it! I used what has become one of my favorite apron patterns "Chic Sisters" apron from the Long Ladies over at
Marie Madeline Studio.

During my lunch hour I will be scurrying over to The UPS Store to send Frostina on her way! Until she arrives I thought I would put some Frostina lyrics in your head!

Frostina the snowgirl was a jolly happy soul,
With a pouty lips and a button nose
And two eyes made out of jewels.
Frostina the snowgirl is a fairy tale, they say,
She was made of snow but the children
Know how she came to life one day.
There must have been some magic in that
Old pink flower they found.
For when they placed it on her head
She began to dance around.
O, Frostina the snowgirl
Was alive as she could be,
And the children say she could laugh
And play just the same as you and me.
Thumpetty thump thump,
Thumpety thump thump,
Look at Frostina go.
Thumpetty thump thump,
Thumpety thump thump,
Over the hills of snow.

Merry Christmas Ya'll!!!!!!!!!

It's going in the mail!

I apologize to my partner that I didn't get this in mail on Saturday, but it goes to the post office first thing tomorrow morning. I hope she likes the apron and goodies that go with it!

Sorry that I don't have a fancy sewing dummy to use to model the apron, but here it is.

Sneak Peek at Fabrics

Here's a quick peek at the fabrics for my partner's apron.

I hope, I hope...

My partner likes what I came up with. I based the apron on her favorite colors and a little bit on her favorite Christmas song. Here it is. The first picture is the of the goodies. (am I supposed to post pictures of all of this? I am kinda new)

Shipping

Mine is shipping tomorrow with all it's goodies!
What did I pack you ask: something good to eat, somethings to dangle from your tree, a few good smelling items and a kitchen item (or four).
Though I do hope my partner will help a girl out and take some pictures, since my camera is still in the shop.
Thanks for the fun swap!

~Cassi

Package Sent!!

So hear it is. I really hope my partner likes her apron and goodies. I had lots of fun searching for fabric and putting together the treats. What a fun theme for this swap. Merry Christamas Everyone.

Better Late Than Never

I know I am kind of last minute making a posting about the fabrics I am using. I am not usually a last minute person, but the camera was lost.

I really wanted to get a fabric that my swap partner would enjoy, and based on the information I received, I am pretty sure she'll like this. The picture doesn't really do it justice, and I was kind of nervous about using a fabric with a black background (I don't know why, really...I think because all of the other Christmas prints I already have are pretty bright). I am hoping to make a few other things to match this for my swap partner.

Let's hope naptime today is productive. I already have all of the other goodies set aside and ready to send.

I love Christmas!

Oh Holy Night

From imagination to completion.

I love seeing beginning to end and
reading the comments about everyone's
aprons when their designs are revealed.
From a pile of fabric to a handmade gift
that is truly appreciated.

This apron converts into a cloths pin bag.

Thanks Shawnee, for the opportunity!
