Hi gals,
Well, our last few swaps have still had swappers that don't send or send late or don't thank their partners.
Very disheartening. But I don't want to give up on my faithful sweeties. My swappers have been my buds for so many years!
So, how to proceed? I don't know. Open to suggestions. I'm thinking small, maybe things that are sent to me first and then re-distributed so that if you don't send, you don't receive.
Leave your ideas in comments. And happy snowy Sunday!
Shawnee
I like the idea of things being sent to you first.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad that some don't follow up with their commitments. I think having everything mailed to you would be a lot of work on your part Shawnee.....not sure if there is any good solution.
ReplyDeleteSending things to you and then you sending them on is lots of work and lots of cost. I say look over the swaps in the past and trust those that have always stepped up to be angels or have always send on time and thanks! From there anyone else with a bad reputation doesn't get to play and someone new has to send the package to you. Still you can't guarantee the recipient will send the maker a thank you. You have some very faithful Apronista's and I for one wouldn't want to miss it, I love these swaps even if I can't be in all of them!
ReplyDeleteyou are just going to have to be picky and put people on a do not play list and newbies in the send first then yours get mailed list. I don't swap nearly as much anymore for the same reason
ReplyDeleteWow, not sure what to say...I think Jean is right! Put those swappers that don't play nice on a "you don't get to play anymore list." Call it a day, and let's get the next swap going!! Something like, " Just for You Swap." A Mother's Swap!!
ReplyDeleteYup...I am with Jennifer on this...(being one that still didn't hear from the person who had me last swap) Anyone who didn't follow through last time doesn't get in! I like the Mother's Day idea!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for replies. I hear ya!
ReplyDeleteI think a Mother Day swap is a great idea, too. Doesn't even need to be an apron, just for an apron-lover like me and you. I'll get to it!
Hard to understand why people don't carry through. And thank yous can be as simple as a postcard. How about a confirmation of commitment maybe two weeks or so after the first one. Those who don't carry through should be permanently dropped from participating.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing names I recognize, like a sorority of sorts and absolutely love wondering who of my lovely sisters will I get and who will get me. I love the posts and especially the comments with teases so I can play a game and try to figure it out.
ReplyDeleteSome are more committed than others but as you get to know each sister you understand and love them for the time they CAN give. I love a small, intimate party with trusted friends. My suggestion is new girls (and guys) need to have come recommended. Any of my sister's friends would certainly be welcome! The friends I have made here are amazing!
On another point. I love the Facebook idea. It is so hard for me to keep a personal blog. When there is a new swap I do a new post. :).
My all time favorite swap is "Re-purposed". I loved the apron swap from old linens. I love a challenge to create. I don't care for the swaps were we just buy stuff. Look at your past swaps and see. When everyone is challenged to make something the posts are truly encouraging (and funny).
I love swapping and especially your swaps. However, I have been burned on some swaps. I love the idea of a "you don't get to play anymore" list.
ReplyDeleteI have so busy working that haven't participated in a long time, the swaps did force me to sew lol time to get back in!
ReplyDeleteI haven't participated in a long time, but I wanted to start again. I love the swaps, but that is a bummer when people don't send their stuff or show gratitude for what they do receive. I think removing the people who didn't send is really the only thing you can do. It's not fair to those who put a lot of time into their gifts to end up with nothing (or for those angels to have to step in). I like the Mother's Day Swap idea. I can't remember the length of time you give for prep during the swap, like from the time you receive a name and when you have to send it out? Maybe make it a week earlier so there is a bit extra time?
