Sneaky Peeky!

Okay, while I am totally finished, and have my apron and incredibly cute (if I must say so myself!!!) tuck-ins all boxed and ready to go in a cute little cupcake box, I just wanted to show a little peek of the apron I made for my apron sister! It is cute valentine fabric with vintage lace on the "flounce" and cranberry ric-rack! (I also did the top and the pocket this way...I couldn't help it, I loved the lace I found!!!) I had SO much fun putting this together!!!

REGISTRATIONS OPEN - Be My Cutie Pie Flirty Apron Swap

Yeah, it's that time again -- I get to announce our next Flirty Apron Swap! I cannot BELIEVE that this will be the 14th swap I've hosted here!!!

In trying to decide on this month's theme, something new and different yet still familiar, I found out that, while February is host to several "chocolate" days, the month of February is also National Pie Month. Sounds good to me! Pies and Valentines, what could be a "sweeter" combination (hah!)?

Deadline to Register: January 15

NEW FAS Swappers Mail to Shawnee before: January 29

All Others Mail After: January 31

Mail Before: February 5

Create a handmade "Be My Cutie Pie" apron – a special February apron that has something on it related to Pie Baking, Valentines, or Vintage Love. In addition, you will include three tuck-ins: one kitchen/baking item, one Valentines item, and one cute vintage (or repro vintage) item.

All items must be handcrafted, new from the store, or thrifted (but only if they are in “better than new” condition). Plan on spending a minimum of $15 on tuck-ins in addition to your apron and postage (boxes MUST be sent 2-day priority w/tracking). Then, make this a special box – gift wrapping, bows, the whole nine yards!

Include a note identifying yourself with your email and blog address so your partner can contact you with her grateful thanks.

SORRY - REGISTRATIONS ARE CLOSED

Be sure to register early (brand new swappers must have an active blog or facebook). I've been known to offer a prize to those who not only register early but share it with their friends. LEAVE ME A COMMENT below when you register. LEAVE ANOTHER COMMENT when you invite a buddy, facebook, tweet, or blog about this swap!

PS - Grab the swap badge, too -- I like to randomly check for badges, too, for possible prizes!

First Swap Apron- Done!

I had to battle through a ripped finger nail, nasty cold and car troubles, but I prevailed and my apron is done! I also was able to make a matching 50s hair flower to go with the black cherry cosmopolitan cocktail apron (I don't know if such a martini exists, but it definitely captures the colors of this apron). My favorite bit is the oval pocket trimmed in pink velvet ribbon and ruffles.

I hope my partner likes it. I'm planning on making one for myself with the leftover material :)

Adorable Apron Pattern - Mama Byrd Sweetheart

I think I might have found the perfect apron for our Flirty Valentines Apron Sew Along. Check this out!!

Lucy of My Byrd House has been working on a new pattern for a few weeks now and would like to give you a sneak peek at the apron.
VA(
She made this Sweetheart Apron from a picture of a vintage apron from the 50's. The pattern will be ready for sale very shortly in both hard copy and PDF format thanks to her fabulous niece Alisa.

She's thinking about also doing a Mama Byrd's Sweet Heart Apron Giveaway so be sure to keep any eye on her blog. The pattern comes in three sizes Small which fits 2T to about 6T, Medium which fits larger children to teens and Large which fits adults.

Doesn't this look sweet?? Lucy says it works up really fast and only take 1 to 1 1/3 yards of fabric!
Here is a picture of the small size apron. It only take about 1/3 to 1/2 yard fabric to make.

Hurry up, Lucy. We want one!!!!

Valentines Apron Sew Along

Hi all!

Since I'm not hosting a Flirty Apron Swap for Valentines Day, I thought I'd sponsor a Sew Along for everyone who is interested. This will be a fun show-and-tell for the holiday that perfectly lends itself to this flirty and fun fashion accessory.

Post in the comments section links to any blog posts about your sewing project. Additionally, please join and post pictures at the Flickr Valentines Apron group, http://www.flickr.com/groups/valentinesaprons/.

To show the world that you've joined this Sew Along, I've created a button for you to post on your blog. I NEED MORE! I would love to receive your button creations and will post them on the sidebar for all to see. I'm sure you'll do better than mine; I always make the writing too small!

PS - Don't you LOVE the cupcake aprons in the banner? If you don't feel like making your own Valentines Apron this year, head on over to Lana's Sassy Apron Shop on Etsy. She creates the most amazing aprons, and at VERY reasonable prices!
