your package is on the way

Everything is boxed up and waiting at the post office. Besides the fringy apron, there are vintage buttons from the 50's, ribbon barrettes for the 80's and reusable snack bags for the future. This was another great swap. Thanks Shawnee.

MY box came day before yesterday and LOOK ... Kat made me the most amazing creation! She used an Apron-ology apron for inspiration and created a masterpiece. Plus, her lovebirds fabric looks JUST like my Facebook Icon ... isn't that so cool???

THANK YOU KAT. I feel so very special!!

Did you know that I always find it hard to assign someone to be my partner? I don't want anyone to feel pressure and it's been harder and harder for me; I've been tempted to sit out and just do the admin part. BUT, Miss Kat was so sweet and asked to be my partner in her registration. I jumped on that request. I had no idea how wonderfully talented she is, in addition to being a great swapper, so great about regularly commenting and posting, plus she's a talented florist and wonderful friend. Thanks again, sweetie. =)

I made the Lilly Apron for my partner. She wanted an aqua/brown combo. I love a little red, so decided to modify the pattern to be reversible, and added some red to the reverse. Side two reminds me of my gal's family. Both sides are accented with big polka dot pockets, and there's a huge polka dot bow in the back!

New Meets Old

Here's my finished creation...

The two parts are connected at the waist band and seperate down the sides. The overlay is a vintage table cloth. The underskirt is new fabric from JoAnns. I thought the curves on the new fabric mimicked the scallop and curves on the table cloth. The edge is done in bias tape. I have a new found LOVE for bias tape after this project. SO EASY! I made this for Frieda who requested a full apron. I couldn't get my mind around how to do full with this table cloth and design idea for the bottom, so instead I made it extra long so it could be tied at a higher waist line. These fabrics are totally not me, but I LOVED it anyway and might make another for myself. Here was the package all ready to go...

...unfortunately when I got to the post office I couldn't find the card or recipe anywhere! So I sent it off without them. Well, they were recovered this morning and will be on their way to Frieda soon. The matching napkins did make it to Frieda, though. Enjoy!

My package has been mailed

before I left town to see my dad. I forgot to bring the conformation number to the coffee shop with me to see if it has been delivered yet, but if not by today, tomorrow for sure!
I am thinking my package will arrive while I am gone, but my Hubband will let e know when it gets there and I will let you all know that it has arrived safely and then post pictures as soon as I get home!

Received my Holiday Apron!

Isn't it cute! I loved my apron from Jackie N. My daughter really loves it "Mommy you look just like Santa now, that is so cool" where her exact words. Jackie also sent a beautiful bouquet of kitchen tools and a celebration book. I can't wait to dig into the book. Thanks so much. Also my apron is done and will be mailed out tomorrow. Here is the finished product.

If you don't like it, you can send it back...

because I had a really hard time boxing this up and sending it off! This fabric is so luxurious, I just loved sewing with it. (Good thing I ordered extra!) It's from Heather Ross's Mendocino collection. Simply gorgeous! So, dear partner, if for any reason you don't care for it, just send it right back and I won't shed one tear. ;]
This theme was so fun!
I also sent along some of my favorite tropical drink recipes, so I hope you enjoy a little extended summer vacation.

My swap partner is on the ball!

Imagine my surprise when I got this lovely package in the mail on Friday!
Goodies galore!
Thank you so much to my lovely and wonderful swap partner, Valerie! The kitties in the kitchen fabric is so fabulous and so very me! And the little tab for dishtowels is perfect - I'm always tucking a kitchen towel into the waist of my aprons.
Kitties in the kitchen apron!
I can't wait to try the recipes and my kitties are already devouring the cat treats (who knows where they put the mouse toy she made)?! But I'm still rhapsodizing over the apron - she was worried that it might be too big, but it's perfect in every way! And there's rickrack on the pockets! So cute!
I love rickrack!
And the ruffled edge!
Gorgeous ruffles.
It's almost too pretty for heavyduty messy cooking - I might have to save it for when I'm playing fancy hostess and having cocktail hour! Thank you Val!
