Feedsack remix
So I was able to finish the apron at 3:00 am Sunday morning (I don't sleep much) after some issues with my rolled hem foot. I really had to fudge some with this pattern because the feedsack material was only 33-inches wide instead of 45-inches. Even though I had a full yard of the fabric, because of the pattern printed on it, I couldn't play around too much with the pattern layout to make everything fit just right. Good news is, I'm more confident on any alterations to patterns that I would need to do.

You'll have to pardon the wonky way the apron drapes-- my daughter was no where to be found when I needed a model for pictures-- and the back of the dining room chair doesn't do it justice.
I do have to say that I love this pattern, and I didn't think I would. I've got some leftover fabric from a holiday apron swap that must be used with this pattern. My favorite part of the whole thing is the pocket because it starts out as a straight piece of fabric-- which is saying something since I like plain jane pockets for the most part.

The knot of the bow has been handstitched so it won't come untied.
And what apron is complete without a little ric-rac?

It wasn't easy finding a coordinating fabric in the right color for this vintage feedsack material.
I just hope she likes it.

Fearful But Finished!
Let me first say that I DO NOT SEW! So, this is a first for me. I was pretty nervous about it, and I am sure all of the flaws will be visible to the expert seamstress's eye (like everywhere I had to use the seam ripper - yikes). However, I think the fabric is cute and I think it turned out OK for the first time (and with no help). I hope it will be good enough for my partner.

Simple Summer Apron
Here it is:

I don't think I'll give anything away by sharing it. The simplicity is the result of two things. I spent the summer living in an unairconditioned apartment on the fourth floor. Cooking and baking were, therefore, an endeavor requiring stoicism. The oven and stove would just make things so hot! All I wanted was to wear as little as possible. With this in mind, I figured a nice cool feeling linen apron would be just the thing, as my swapmate's ideal vacation was in a warm climate.
The other reason for simplicity was an unfortunate circumstance. I moved three months ago, which did not agree with my sewing machine. I took it to a shop where it was calibrated and cleaned, but now it's acting up again. Having little option but to use the thing I decided to keep straight stitches to a minimum, as that was the stitch causing problems.
The detailing on this apron is quite nice: contrasting thread colors, two pleats for a flattering fit, and a navy grosgrain ribbon saving it from drabness.
Here's the view from the back:

Flirty Fireworks
Edited: Here's my coworker posing in the Flirty Fireworks. I like the shape of it once it is on.
Here's the apron I've created for my partner. I enjoyed making this pattern so much! I DO wish I had a dressform, because hanging my aprons on my furnace just isn't cutting it.

It's a Simplicity 3752, View A, and just went together so smoothly. I made a second one at the same time in different fabrics and it looks entirely different. I made mine with contrasting neck ties, waist band and waist ties where the pattern called for all one fabric. I just need to finish some matching gloves, tuck in the napkins I've purchased and write about our summer celebrations!!

I Finally Did It!

I finally did it last night. It took me until about 3am while watching t.v. and snacking here and there!

I finished my apron!
I'm done, done, done! I finished my swap partner's apron this afternoon, and I cannot wait to put her package together and get it out in the mail tomorrow! I bought the Emmeline Apron pattern from montessoribyhand on etsy.com. My partner loves pretty feminine things, so I thought the ruffles on the bodice would be perfect for her, and since it's reversible, I got to pick, not one, but two gorgeous prints! I don't want to spoil my partner's surprise, so these are just teaser pics...

Side #2
I hope my partner loves it - it was my very first time making bias tape!
