I would say it depends on your partner. I am not a Lucy fan either. But retro kitchen item's I love. I also went for Lucy type sayings on some maganets. Since I had a hard time finding retro stuff.
I'd be cautious mailing chocolate this time of year. I'm not sure if lipstick would face the same problems in this heat (at least in New York City.)
Anything 50s kitsch would be right on target. Costume jewelry, flea market kitchen tools, hankies, fun salt and pepper shakers, even sewing trims like rickrack yardage or ball fringe would probably be welcomed. My guess is anything you like your partner will like.
I still think about that gorgeous apron you made for the vintage linens swap. I can't wait to see what you come up with for this one!
