Peek-a-Boo

Here's a collage to give hints about my apron for the swap. I picked a vintage tablecloth -- no embroidery, lace inserts, etc., because I plan to embellish it myself. I've pondered a bunch of patterns, and finally chose one of the ones pictured here. I've pawed through my ribbon, lace, books, buttons and bows to pick what I think is going to be eye-popping pretty. If all goes well I'll have it in the mail by the end of the week.

Wish me luck! I'd keep my fingers crossed, but it's so hard to sew that way.

  9. Thanks for your comments! I was apprehensive about using the tablecloth because I was concerned that everyone would be waiting for 40s and 50s style goods. I had plans, but in the end I just couldn't bear to cut them up. You've all made me feel a lot more secure in my choice.

I haven't done fabric flowers either, San-Dee, or at least I hadn't before this weekend. I enter these swaps so I have a deadline to challenge myself, and to learn from the aprons I receive. Otherwise I'd just put off doing things like the flowers or the fabric painting until the end of time, or until my home gets clean (whichever comes first).

There's tons of fabric left over, so you better believe I'll be using it for appliqués, trim, at least one more apron, etc. You can't really see it here, but the print is loaded with ribbons, cupids, hands holding other hands...you name it. The designer went for broke on symbols of love! I am having a ton of fun with this one, and hope the future owner just beams when the box gets opened. She deserves a frivolous treat! (Hmmmm....is that you?)
